I'm finding more students unprepared for their new levels. Seventh graders lacking basic grammar skills, ten graders not knowing what a thesis statement is or how to approach a research paper, and college kids dropping out in droves because "the system" failed them.

However I feel for those teachers who do not get the provision for their classes. The students with less material available will be at a disadvantage than the private school that have all the different materials. The inability to add to its resources, forces teachers to either use their own personal finances or work with what they are given. This time I am joining the group. I still remember guilty feelings for not joining other teachers during the last strike.
